Summer is here and there are so many ways to enjoy it! Here are 20 bucket list activities for you to try.
Make a summer mood board
Mood boards are such a cute way to romanticize the seasons. If you don’t know what a mood board is: it’s like a vision board, a board or paper with pictures and maybe quotes, but it’s less about your goals and more about capturing the (summer) vibe. You can also do it digitally, if you prefer.
Go stargazing
In my opinion such an underrated activity, because the night sky is incredible. Grab a jacket, maybe some snacks and drinks and find a safe spot. This can also be a very romantic date idea.
Have a picnic
This will always be my favorite activity on a warm day. It includes beautiful nature and delicious food and drinks. You can do it as a solo date and bring your dog or a nice book or you can do it with your loved ones. And depending on the location, you can even do some swimming and tanning.
Go for a hike
I think hiking is an amazing activity for the weekend, especially if you’re sitting at a desk the whole week, because it combines being outside with nature, which will recharge you a lot, with exercise, which you will always do your health a favor with. Also, our beautiful planet has some unbelievable spots to discover, and some of them you will only come across while on a hike.
The nice thing about hikes is, it has all kinds of difficulty levels, and you can go for however long or short you like, so don’t worry if you’re a beginner, there are lots of amazing, easy routes for you to start with. Just look up beginner friendly hikes near you, make sure to pick a day where the weather is ideal – no rain but also not too hot and always bring enough water.
Watch the sunset
Summer has some incredible sunsets and grabbing a drink with a friend while watching the sun go down, can make for an amazing summer evening. You can also go with your partner, grab some food and drinks, and turn this into a romantic dinner date.
Go camping
I know camping is not for everyone, but if you are a nature lover like me, you should find some free time this summer and plan a camping get-away. I recommend you go with someone, like your partner, some friends or your family. Also do some thorough research beforehand, to be well prepared and to make sure the location you pick is legal and safe!
Go outside and paint/draw nature
If you like painting or drawing, this might be the perfect summer thing to do for you. Nature has so much beauty, so pack some painting/drawing equipment and let yourself be inspired by a beautiful landscape, a majestic tree or colorful flowers. You can also combine it with a picnic, or a camping trip.
Make your own jewelry
I mean this is something you can do any time of the year, but for me it’s such a cute summer activity. You can create necklaces, bracelets, anklets, earrings, keychains etc. There are many different beads and charms you can choose from, to make it however colorful and summery you like.
Host a Summer Party or get-together
Not everyone likes to host, but if you do, summer is the perfect time for a little party. There are countless different types of get-togethers you can organize; for example, a dinner or grill party, a theme party or just a simple girls-night. If you need some tips, I will also make a post on how to throw a summer party.
Have a backyard movie night
Such an amazing idea if you have a backyard or even just a balcony. All you need is something to watch your movie on, like your phone, tablet or a laptop, or if you have a lot of space and like to go big, a white screen and projector. Some food and drinks and a blanket.
Pick flowers and make a bouquet
This is your sign to pick some wildflowers the next time you’re out on a walk and make a little bouquet. The best part about them is, you can create them however you enjoy. You can put them somewhere in your home as pretty decoration or gift them to someone, for example your mom. Of course, make sure you don’t pick your flowers from private property and be respectful to nature, meaning don’t go overboard with what you take.
Have a photoshoot during golden hour
If you like taking pictures of yourself or having photoshoots with your friends, this is a must-do! The lighting during golden-hour is incredible. Put on a cute outfit, find a nice background, and have fun. If you need some posing inspiration, go on Instagram or Pinterest.
Early morning walk to watch the sunrise
Not everyone is an early bird, but some things are worth getting up early for. Summer sunrises can be so beautiful – pick a sunny day, pack your morning coffee and find a good spot. If you need some extra motivation, you can combine it with getting brunch later.
Go on a road trip
A road trip with your friends and spending the summer evenings in new places is a wonderful way to enjoy the season.
Go on a weekend or day trip
I already mentioned road trips, but there are other kind of trips that are perfect for summer as well. For example, you could explore a new city or if you prefer nature, you could rent a cozy cabin. There are endless beautiful places to visit.
Do some outdoor yoga or stretching
If you like doing yoga or want to become more flexible, a nice way to do it is outdoors. It can be your balcony or garden/backyard, or if you’re comfortable with someplace more public, the park or the beach. All you need is a towel and some comfy yoga clothes.
Try out some new summer recipes
A fruity desert? A refreshing salad? There are some amazing ideas and recipes for you to recreate this summer. The perfect idea for a picnic or if you decide to host a get-together.
Make some summer cocktails/drinks with your friends
This is an addition to the last item on the list. There are so many cool(ing) cocktails, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, perfect for summer. Ideal for a summer party or a girls night.
Go on a photo-daytrip
One more activity for those who love photography. Going on a daytrip, especially a new location solely for the purpose of taking pictures. This can be a road trip, a hike, or you can visit a new city – grab your camera or your phone, pick a destination and have fun.
Have a midnight swim
This is such a bucket list thing and definitely not for everyone, but it can be a lot of fun, especially with your friends. Just make sure to be safe!
I hope you could find some inspiration from this post and I wish you the most exciting and pleasant summer!:)
