One of the best ways to enjoy summer is at the beach or by a lake. However, not everyone likes going into the water. If you just want to spend the day outside and tan, or if you are tagging along with your friends or family, but don’t enjoy swimming – this post is for you.
Read a book
Starting off with an absolut classic. A book is easy to bring along and you have endless choices on the subject; from passing the time with a captivating novel to teaching yourself a new skill with an educating non-fiction book – you will find something for you.
Play some games
If you’re sitting at the beach with friends or your family, playing some board or card games might be fun. If it gets too windy, you can switch to your phone, there are some fun games on the internet, which you can play together.
Paint/draw
If you like to paint or draw, this can be such a cute activity for the beach, and a very romantic date idea as well. There are plenty of fun things for you to try. Some ideas are: drawing/painting each other or using watercolors to capture the beautiful view of the sea.
Which is the best fit for your beach day, depends most of all on what you prefer doing, but also a little bit on the weather. For example, if it’s a windy day, painting on a canvas might be more suitable then using paper.
Keep in mind, that some of these might make more of a mess than others, I suggest bringing a big cardboard as a base. Also the colors you’re using might be toxic for the environment so don’t dump any water from watercoloring into the ocean.
Stargazing
Also a very romantic date idea – sitting at the beach by night and looking at the stars. Bring a jacket, because it will get chilly and please make sure you’re doing this in a safe location!
Study
I’m currently getting a diploma and I’ve recently started to bring my study material, a picnic blanket and my bathing suit to the lake and just do all my studying there, tanning. Those are usually my favorite days, they makes me very happy.
My essentials for such a day: my study material, bathing suit, a picnic blanket, sunscreen, water, food, a coffee or matcha and headphones – it can get really loud and distracting, depending on how many people are around.
Craft
There are a lot of different kinds of crafts. Find something that is suitable for the beach – something that is easy to bring along and you can do when it’s windy. I suggest bringing a big cardboard base for this as well and make sure all your crafting supplies are in closable containers, like lunch boxes.
Just make sure you don’t leave a mess and clean everything up when you leave:)
Have a picnic
This one is a given, especially if you’re going to the beach for a longer while, because you are going to need to eat eventually. It might be the perfect time to get your favorite takeout or try out a new recipe.
Hopefully you find something you like in this post, I wish you a lovely beach/lake day☀️
