Since I mention picnics a lot, I thought it was only fitting that I make a post on how to plan one.
For the perfect picnic you need to make some preparations, do some planning and packing. They make great dates with your loved one, meet-ups with friends and even solo-dates. So if you want to plan one, you can use this post as a checklist.
The planning:
- weather
- a warm, sunny day
- not too hot, but also no rain
- location
- a park, the beach, a bench, a meadow/field (make sure it’s not private property)
- nearby bathroom
- if you want to swim & tan: somewhere by the water
- if you want to bring your dog: dogs allowed
- if the sun is very strong: a place near the shade, where you can move to
The packing:
- picnic blanket
- picnic basket or bag to carry your stuff
- maybe a cooler, depending on the temperature and what kind of food you bring
- food (homemade or store bought or takeout – here are some ideas)
- a meal: sandwiches, pizza, sushi, salad, bowls…
- dessert: cake, muffins, brownies, cookies, fruit salad…
- snacks: chips, crackers, fruit, popcorn…
- drinks
- bathing suit, towel…
- games or other entertainment
- sun protection
- sun screen
- hat
- sun glasses
- mosquito repellent
- a small bag for trash – make sure you don’t leave any litter behind
Of course a lot of this depends on the weather, where you’re going and what you want to do when you’re there, so just adjust it as you need.
Have a great time:)
